So the year is racing by and waiting for no one ! I’ve mostly recovered from my spinal surgery, but I do feel a difference in my body when I’m walking. Older and slower, lol. My contemporaries and I are all feeling that thing. Yup. That thing. I manage to workout 3-5 mornings a week, try to stretch. I’m thinking of trying tai chi exercises and chair workouts blah blah blah.

I’m moving right along with my solo gigs. Eric Wolf and I are always searching for that next gem of a cover song to learn. We’ve got a few in the pipeline. The Mike Mead Band continues to see opportunities materialize. So, please come out to see the band. There are a lot of bands playing every weekend in our region. Our band likes to think we’re a bit different. when I was fresh out of high school and doing the band thing and clubbing hard, ALL the bands that were worth seeing, were rehearsed, well dressed (rock stage clothes of the day) and put on a show. There was no such thing as tablets or cell phones on a mic stand at face level being tapped on during a song. YOU WILL NOT SEE THAT when you come to see us. I can’t remember all the lyrics either. I just do it differently then that.

Fucking old school rock performance is what we do and we play songs that other bands don’t play. This will probably be my last “band” project. Only because of the energy it takes to put on a show and perform at the level that I feel I can still pull off. Come out and don’t delay. Straight ahead fun rock.

Now then…on to momma.

My mom is gravely ill in the ICU. My bothers and I are keeping vigil and friends and family have been visiting. The well wishes and prayers are pouring in. She’s 94 and as much as we don’t want to admit it, she may not have long. On the other hand, my mom is the most determined person i have ever known. She boke her hip at 90 years old and came back from that ! So, she very well could bounce back and finish raising me ! We, at least I, am just leaving it God’s hands along with a little modern medicine’s help and we’ll see.
